Melamine is soluble in glycerin, pyridine, heat ethylene glycol, ethanolamine, acetic acid, formaldehyde, etc., but insoluble in carbon tetrachloride.
Melamine is weakly alkaline, and its dissociation constant KB is 1.0109, which can react with acids to form corresponding salt.
Melamine can have hydrolysis reaction with water in the acid and boiling conditions, to generate cyanuric acid dinitrogen-containing compounds, cyanuric acid nitrogen-containing compounds and cyanuric acid.
Melamine can be deaminized in the environment of high temperatures or insufficient partial pressure of ammonia, to generate melamine etc.
